Re: Is this stupid?
You might struggle to put weight on a little, but I've found that I'm stronger as a result of conditioning 2-3 times a week. Absolute strength was my goal for about a year, but my body never felt great and I'd MUCH rather be able to move heavy loads while breathing hard than be strong in a controlled environment.
I feel much better overall and far more capable of being strong in a real "life" situation. My numbers have continued to go up since I've started CrossFitting again, for what it's worth- I've added 70lbs to my front squat in the last year. |

Re: Is this stupid?
at first you might slide backwards a bit, but your body will get used to the increased demand, and you'll get back to where you were/surpass if you have your recovery in check.
Also recommend shorter metcons aka 15-18mins or LESS. in the end the added conditioning will help you recover. its just going to be a matter of time management (conditioning and strength work time management) Think about it though rugby and football (not soccer) players are big, can be lean, fast and strong, and they do both conditioning and strength work. |
