Just curious, how many of us use an IPod when we work out? I do just so I won't be rude when people want to talk or ask me what the I'm doing and why am I upside down and dong pushups. What about you?

I used to until I sweated it to pieces! I have also dropped a 60 kg barbell on in once, which it though did survive.

Regarding 'gym talkers': Aren't they a pain in the donkey?

Community...I was going to move to Equipment, but looks like the discussion will branch out past the equipment mode.

Sometimes, depends on the mood I'm in. I have a set of bluetooth headphones though, so I can put it in a safe place and still listen (if I'm within 40 or so feet). I really like them, although I've heard reports that the model I got break easily.

Here's a link to Logitech's website, where you can see what I'm talking about, though this isn't the model I purchased, which has been discontinued [family and work friendly]:,CRID=2412,CONTENTID=124 92

Again, the link points to Logitech's website, a maker of electronics accessories (like computer mice, ...and headphones obviously), specifically a model of bluetooth/wireless headphones.

(Gotta make sure I don't get a warning!)

I do for the most part, but when doing some stuff its hard. For example, its almost impossible to do Cleans and Snatches with the cord dangling.

I'm planning on putting a simple stereo in my garage soon and hooking up my mp3 player to it. I think it'll give me just the motivation to work even harder during the WODs.

Ipod shuffle works awesome under the shirt...little rusted up from sweat, may want a waterproof case....doenst work so well during a bench (since it is hanging around my neck)..and bangs me in the head during HSPUs....otherthan that, love it.

I never use an iPod.. instead I use an MPIO FY500. Super-light, sounds great, sweat-proof, and you don't pay for the Apple/iPod name brand nor do you have to deal with Apple's DRM "solution". This acts just like a USB hard drive. With some behind-the-neck earphones (earbuds always seem to fall out of my ears) I can crank a little Wolfmother and drown out pretty much all else, allowing me to focus on the task at hand (and do permanent damage to my hearing!).

I have several mixes useful for certain timed workouts (especially 5k runs).

I think they work as great "I am not a people person" signs so people don't mess with you.

I put a Cambridge Soundworks sat/sub combo with an iPod dock in my basement gym. It's really great getting psyched up with music but once things get going, I don't really notice the music (unless it shuffles to something mellow).

i love my ipod when doing just cardio, but i found it cumbersome when doing crossfit. i've clipped it to my pants, however it went flying while i was doing kipping pull-ups. have not used it since!
