Re: Stopped smoking!!

Everyone needs a son like mine. At seven years old he told me all he wanted for his birthday is for me to quit smoking forever. So I did! I will.

Now if I could get my diet under control!

Re: Stopped smoking!!

Totally lost count now, still on the patches. Im gonna start cutting them in half now, less nicotine to wean myself off them and saving money. Not gonna buy a lesser dose, its the same price!!
Had my stag do last night (batchelor party) was tempting to smoke but didnt so im over another milestone!

Re: Stopped smoking!!

Congrats Steve. I smoked from 15 to 23 then quit. I stayed off the dreaded weed for 6 years and started again! Stupid I know, but I was in a low place then. It only takes one to break the taboo you're building up. I had 1 on a drunken night + other trauma in my life = 6 weeks later it was like I'd never quit!

Fortunately I stopped again 3 years ago, but it was as tough as the first time. If you ever feel the need, take the Alcoholics Anonymous view: You are never a non-smoker, you will always be a smoker, you're just not a smoker *today*. I consider myself to be an ex-smoker, but I know I'm only 1 cig away from being a smoker again. Even the very occassional cigar is enough to to relight (pun INtended) the fire of desire for a few weeks.

I admit my addiction. I confront my addiction. I refuse to let a plant, a weed really, have domination over my life. Yes I'm an addict, but I'm stronger than that. And so are you.

I'm proud we are quitters together mate and I'm proud of the other quitters on this thread, well done. (Not often you hear those words here, lol !)

Re: Stopped smoking!!

I quit this new years eve and all thanks to Paul McKenna, the hypnotist. That's right, a little hypnosis was all it took for me, a heavy smoker, smoked 2 packs a day for 9 years to give it all up.

I mean it's still hard the first couple of days but then it get's a whole lot easier. Now I hardly ever have a craving, and I have done so without using any patches, nictoine gums or none of that bull beacause it keeps you addicted to nicotine that in the end is a poison and nothing the body truely needs.
