I read through the material on this site and some of the WODs and this looks like a great workout philosophy. I have a few questions.
First a little background. Growing up I swam till I went off to college. After four years of relative inactivity and beer drinking I grew out of shape. I began looking at the Marine Corps and decided to go to Officer Candidate School. This meant I needed to get back in shape. (because was training for the Marine PFT I'll give my progress in those terms) I started with 12 pullups (no kip), 70 situps in 2 minutes, and 24 min 3 mile. After three months I'm able to do 25 pullups, 120 situps, and 19:15 3 mile. With that score I got accepted into the program. I am now planning to ship out in a month and want to get some final training done before I go.
I heard mention of a newbie program. Something about it getting you used to the different exercises (I have done pullups, pushups, situps, dips, running, and little else) Where can I find this?
How should I try to accomodate my one month schedule? I would rather avoid getting hurt and perhaps tapering the last week.
Is there anyone in the Mountain View/San Jose, CA or the Berkeley/Orinda ,CA area who wouldn't mind someone tagging along? I figure starting with someone who already knows all about CrossFit is a good idea.
