Crossfitters over 40?
Hi. I've been doing crossfit for a little over a year. This month I turn 46. I have never in my life felt better or have been in better shape. This journey is amazing!
![]() When I began, it was enough to just get through any WOD. I was uncomfortable with the weightlifing and felt nervous about injury. Six months into Crossfit something clicked and I started to push harder. A year later, I now believe that with dedication, I could strive to do many of the workouts as RX'd. I'm not afraid to push harder and go for it! I've cut out 99% of the sugar from my diet, upped the proteins and good carbs. As a die-hard sugar and carb addict for 45 years, this would have seemed impossible one year ago. My body has changed dramatically for the better and keeps getting better! I'm interested in talking to other crossfitters in our 40s+ who are having similar experiences. What kinds of goals do you set? Any special recovery issues? Anything at all we would talk about that we may not have in our 20s or 30s? |

Re: Crossfitters over 40?
Hey Eileen, welcome to CF. Just wanted to mention that there a couple pretty big threads already on this subject. Do a little search.

Re: Crossfitters over 40?
Hey Eileen,
There is a thread in the workout logs folder for CF'ers over 50, but many of the regulars there (myself included) are 45-50. Good group. |

Re: Crossfitters over 40?
Hi Eileen,
i'm not yet 40, although at 38, I can see it on the horizon. I must say that I have had similar experiences in the few months that I've been crossfitting. I'm sidelined now with a couple of old injuries bothering me, but I was impressed with the length of time for those injuries to show up - something that was all running, or all weights, or all cycling, would have re-aggravated them much more quickly. I also appreciate the (duh) multivariate understanding of and approach to fitness. Being stronger AND faster is awesome. |

My father is 65, and CFs 3-on, 1-off from the mainpage. He sometimes scales for strength, but he otherwise does things as RXed. 40 ain't nothing.

Thanks for the replies...
Am visiting Vegas right now. It's so cool to visit different "boxes" and get the energy no matter where I travel. ![]() |
