Re: September: 'Turkish Get-up' challange

I'm in, I will start tonight with 6 reps at 35# kettlebell, I
will see how this goes with an eye to going heavier.

I am going for the third week of the Dan John Big 21
Friday, and will wind it up next Tuesday, so I don't
think this will conflict since the I set pretty
light weights for the first go around.

Maybe this can be weaved into a monthly challenge for
3 weeks then a rest period and test during the 4th week
of the month.

An idea to ponder.

Re: September: 'Turkish Get-up' challange

week 1: day 2 'turkish get-up challenge' #15 - 2 today = 6 reps total

i decided to stick with #15 again. my right arm is perfect but the form on the left is still a bit goofy.

i could tell after doing 4 today at a decent pace that 60 on day 30 is going to be a hardcore workout. it is amazing how many muscles that you don't normally train are used in this movement. i find that going back down is 5 times harder then the way up.

I'm in, this'll be good. Provided I don't forget about it halfway through the month.

I've got a 12-kg kettlebell that I can use for a while at least.

good to have you on board tirzah. you might want to subscribe to the thread since it makes it easier to remember the challenge.

Re: September: 'Turkish Get-up' challange

So I promptly went home and forgot about the challenge. Yep, subscribing would be a good idea.
What is that, a total of 28 TGUs today per side? I really wish for some well-padded wall-to-wall carpeting.

Re: September: 'Turkish Get-up' challange

Buy-ins SUCK. And the 12-kg kettlebell got downgraded to a 15-lb dumbbell when I realized just how much 28 TGUs per side was going to be.

Re: September: 'Turkish Get-up' challange

friday:
day 4 'turkish get-up challenge' #15 - 8 today = 14 reps total
saturday:
day 5 'turkish get-up challenge' 1.5 pood- 10 today = 24 reps total
sunday:
day 6 'turkish get-up challenge' #15- 12 today = 36 reps total
monday:
day 7 'turkish get-up challenge' #15- 14 today = 50 reps total

sorry i haven't been posting my totals. its been a busy weekend. i went up to a 1.5 pood on friday and i thought i was going to rip my arm out a few times. there is little room for error with that kind of weight. your form has to be on point.
