Planet Fitness secures its spot at the top of CrossFit's s#!t-list

This video had me grinning like a moron, and just generally thanking God for making me a CrossFitter. WFS

If someone actually had the sack to stand in front of me and tell me I have to be quiet while trying to move heavy weights....I'd probably come to my senses moments later, realizing I know held their still beating heart in my hand.

This crap is all part of the continued pussification of the american male (and female for that matter.....thanks george carlin). God forbid anyone should feel "intimidated" at the gym of all places.

Lets analyze precisely what that means by the way. If you're "intimidated" you are made to feel inferior.....because SOMEONE IS DOING SOMETHING YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF OR UNWILLING TO DO. That is a problem here today....why? Because NO ONE should ever feel inferior....no one should be exposed to a situation where someone else has any bravado because it might make them "feel bad."

There is a SEVERE lack of sack left in the general population of this country.

When I read "pussification of the American male" I thought of George Carlin and then immediately had a strong surge of affection for you, Kevin. Preach on, my brother.

I also laughed out loud at the fact that the guy was quarter squatting "500lbs" on the Smith machine.

Re: Planet Fitness secures its spot at the top of CrossFit's s#!t-list

I saw this video a while back, and one of the thoughts going through my head was " why doesnt this guy go to another gym?" It says up in their "rules": no deadlifting. So he should already know its not a place for anybody who's serious about doing any sort of lifting.
It annoyed me off too, but unless that was the only gym in town, he should find somewhere else where actually doing work is welcomed and not scorned.

I would never go to a fitness world or a 24 hour fitness and hang my rings, do a farmer's walk with a 135 lb barbell in each hand (its not the weight, its the balance) or any sort of olympic lifting. I guess my point is that some gyms are for beginners, like this one, and I'm OK with that. Just as long as they let me do my thing in my gym.

But if every gym gets to be like this, then its out to the park with the sandbags and the weighted vest. But I agree, in general, any sort of competition is pushed to the side for this sort of "everyone is on the same level" mentality. Luckily, there will always be people who think that the "mediocrity is ok" attitude is complete garbage.

Wasnt there a thread about this before?

Amen.

You suck at some things, you excel at others... but excellence never comes without hard work. If it bothers someone that someone else can outdo them at the gym, either suck it up and work harder, or take solace in whatever it is you've chosen to work hard for.

Of course, the failure is that most people don't seem to want to work hard for anything anymore...

i know i'm in the minority here, but i kinda sympathize with what planet fitness is trying to do. (not the no grunting thing!!!!)

As an overweight female that wanted to start lifting heavy, it's REALLY intimidating to head onto the weight floor and be surrounded by large muscle heads grunting like neanderthals. i probably wouldn't have made it to the bench if i hadn't stopped caring what people thought years ago

so i get how they want to make all parts of the gym "inviting" and "friendly," but this is certainly not the way to do it. well educated trainers might help

This is an absolute joke. But what's even more funny is that there are actually still people that go there

A no-stinking policy would be a much better idea. It's amazing how many people go to a work out without having showered and think that it's ok to wear the same clothes twice in a row. Now THAT would be a good rule.

And the police actually had to waste time on this as well? Stupid
