typically it would be just 4 burpups, but in this challenge i have left it open. so you can do either one in any combination. this is a hybrid challenge so if you wanted to do 4 burpups on day 2, then 6 pull ups on day 3, then 4 burpups with 4 pull ups on day 4 it would be ok. it is up to you as long as the over all total of reps for that day equals the grand total posted for that day.

Thanks for all the explanations, Ted. I'm not normally so dense.......this cold has got me plugged up tighter than an old, rusted, jammed, Civil War cannon....

I'll do something crazy and buy in to something I've never done..........count me in as soon as I'm well.....

Re: new years challenge

Day 3 & 4 - pull ups/ burpups +6, +8 = 20 total

burpup +6,+8 (20 total)

Re: new years challenge

If I can ever shake this cold, my "buy in" will end up being my WOD - - I am so far behind......

your buy in will be 30 tomorrow which isn't too bad. you have the whle day to do them. so do a few before your workout to warm up, then the rest as a cool down. by the end of this challenge it will become your wod.

stephen what are you doing? burpups or pull ups?

something that works really well for me is to change the way i approach the challenge everyday. so one day i will do it as fast as possible for time, then another i will do it tabata style, then somedays i do them real slow and methodical. the variety keeps it from getting stale and helps the body recover from the daily stress.

Re: new years challenge

Ok I am confused and yes I need pictures flow charts and a diarama if possible.

so day 1 a burpee followed by jumping into a pull up

day 2 is 2 burpees into pullups?

I think the splitting the movement explanation confused me?

sorry about the confusion. this is basically a dual challenge. either burpee to pull ups or just pull ups. since it was a dual challenge i mentioned that an individual could create a hybrid challenge involving both movements. i gave an example of a hybrid program, but really it is up to you if you do burpee to pull ups or just pull ups in a given day. so feel free to do what you please.

the main idea is to keep up with the over all total, which is 20 (burpups or pull ups) as of today. so tomorrow you could buy-in by doing 30 total reps (20 for today & 10 for tomorrows total) of either movement. then on the following days do the daily amount which would be 12 on tuesday, then 14 on wednesday, then 16 on thurs, 18 fri, and so on until on day 30 we do 60 reps of either exercise.

Hi Ted,

Thanks for the additional clarification. I'd have done the incorrect number - - still not quite sure how the day's tally is arrived at, but I'll re-read all the posts and eventually, it'll soak into this old brain of mine . Cold is really hanging on.....hope I can do 'em today.

Gonna try the burpup thang...

Have a great day!
