What a great weekend! I placed 3rd out of 11 in the Level 2 competition. First workout went mostly as planned:
WOD1 - Level 2 For time: 3 rounds of: 5 Deadlift, 45 / 30 kg 5 Hang Power Clean 5 Jerk 400 meter run 2 rounds of: 5 Deadlift, 45 / 30 kg 5 Hang Power Clean 5 Jerk 400 meter run 1 round of: 5 Deadlift, 45 / 30 kg 5 Hang Power Clean 5 Jerk 400 meter run 50 Double-unders I totally stumbled on my double-unders at the end. Everything else was good. One of my direct competitors was right in front of me on the last run. I picked up the pace and passed him. Confidence booster. Managed 2nd place on the first workout, but I believe it's because another guy accidentally cut a run short. They penalized him by a minute. WOD2 - Level 2 3 rounds, for time of: 20 Wall ball to 10 ft target, 14 / 10 pounds 10 Pull-ups OR 20 Pull-ups with blue band This was a personal victory. I had planned on using the band. During warm-up, I jumped on the bar and hit a few pull-ups. I decided to just forego the band. Nailed them. I hit my last 5 as singles, but the rest went pretty well in large sets. Wall-ball was smooth and easy. Every rep counted. I was fourth on the workout but managed to hold on to 3rd place overall. Just have to get those pull-ups faster. Overall, awesome competition. I'm itching for more! |

Today I squatted. Very sad. I'm not consistent with my squatting and I just hate doing it.
3x3 - 205. Felt like 500 7 x 100m intervals. Times were 17-19 sec each. 45 seconds between sprints. |

Guess who's back!?!
A couple weeks of being sick, personal stress, and nursing a hurting shoulder put a whoopin' on me. Had a couple small diet slips. Feeling good to go, now. Shoulder is still hurting, but I'll make it. 5x10 American KB swings. 1.5, 1.5, 2, 2, 2. 2 minutes between sets. 200m, 400m, 800m, 400m, 200m. Rest for your previous work time. Fast enough for a guy that hasn't done anything aside from scratch his head for 3 weeks. |

Got out and did a little workout yesterday.
Started on a squat program. Maxed at a 265 single. Then went 3x3 at 185, then 2x5 at 135. I feel like I could have gone heavier than 265, but my lower back wasn't liking it. Then ran an easy mile. Today I spent an hour doing cleans. Did the same format. Hit 205, which matched my PR. 210 bounced off my chest. These are pretty much muscle cleans. Not really getting under them, and I know that's hurting me. Then went 3x3 at 145 and 2x5 at 105. Then an easy 400. With the last 2 workouts, I'm mad at myself for missing so much because of my shoulder lately. Just have to adapt and do the best I can. Diet is back on track. |
