People have been doing Crossfit fine for years now without these "special" shoes. Theres plenty of Dirtbag options available like.
Of course there will be those that MUST HAVE these shoes as they WILL improve their times.

Considering that the Innov8's, Merrel trailgloves, NB Minimus are all at or above $100, how is $120 that freaking crazy?

No one is forcing anybody to buy Reeboks- there are plenty of options.

Or you just buy cheaper shoes (and probably better CF shoes) such as Inov-8, NB Minimus, or the other myriad of shoes that have been used by CFers before Reebok joined in.

The shoes look cool, but I think I'll stick with my NBs.
