weighted one hand pushups to build muscle?

Hey, does anyone think this would be a great arm builder? My right arm is bigger than my left, and I've realized that I tend to do one handed pushups with my right arm more so maybe that's why? thanks guys, i really appreciate it

Sure....

or you could just use DBs or keep on doing typical barbell exercises?

I don't understand the video. What's the point of adding weight in the form of a bar and then make the exercise easier by doing it on an elevated surface? Also, if you want to gain muscle, just bench. No need to reinvent the wheel, unless you particularly enjoy one arm push ups, in which case, have at it.

My bad...I was really sore at the moment so I used the bench. You are right that it should have been on a flat surface.

I think it was elevated because the barbell would be hitting the floor at the bottom of the pushup.

But yeah, it's kinda lame elevated

Re: weighted one hand pushups to build muscle?

I also say stick to dumbell bench, but if you really want to add resistance to 1 arm pushups use a weight vest and do it on the floor. You can also do 1 arm ring pushups, as shown in this thread: http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?p=1023614 (WFS).

By the way, no exercise will ever look cooler because you do it using an EZ curl bar loaded with 10 or 20 lbs.

Just do them from the floor. Build volume with sets of 2-5 reps per set until you are proficient enough. If your already doing some form of heaving pressing(push press, overhead press, jerk, etc...), then one arm pushups are a nice balance.

Thanks a lot, I will definitely listen to your advice. But just to add though, it was probably around 50LBS with the bar.

One arm pullups, while curling the bar?
