Left Knee

Hi all,
New CFer(2nd week), but 35 years of intense fitness training. 159 lbs, 5"8". Mild pain in left knee doing heavy deadlifts for "Diane" last Friday. Today, finishing up WOD...tried to do whole workout without much rest period...brutal. But while finishing final exercise, 50 double unders, suddenly sharp pain in left knee. Massaged, rested, and did typical male thing...kept going. One more double under in...the pain stopped me dead.

I'm icing, ibuprofen, elevating. It hurts going up stairs and doesn't hurt with full extension, but when I flex knee with foot up to butt, pain above patella!

I love CF, and know I'm probably doomed to sit out plenty of WODs for a while. But am even more leary of seeing an orthopod...as they earn their money by cutting.

Any advice from "the family"? I appreciate your help in advance!
Mike

Re: Left Knee

Get a picture (google image leg physiology or whatever) and circle in red where it hurts

Steven,
Having trouble, pictures keep getting pealed off when I try to upload.
When flexing (squating) knee hurts just above Patella, slightly to the right.
Thanks!
Mike

Re: Left Knee

Is it active or passive flexion? Are your muscles flexing your knee up to your butt, or are you pulling it up with your hand?

Wow, good question Corey. It was actually passive...I pull my heel to my butt...but notice if I do it actively (no helping hand), it hurts too.

Re: Left Knee

So the pain is above the patella, slightly to the inside of the leg? Does it hurt when walking? It hurts going up stairs, when the injured leg is the front leg? How about down the stairs? Ever had any major injuries that put you down for more than a week?

Any swelling yet? And if you've been taking Ibuprofen, it still hurts a lot? How often do you take Ibuprofen?
