I read that sushi block post the other day and ironically my cousin took me out for sushi and sashimi the other day for the first time so now I'm thinking about a way to make a paleo-friendly version of it. I was thinking perhaps using shredded cabbage instead of rice. Anyone got any other ideas?

Depending on how fanatical paleo you are, you could replace the rice with yellow lentils. They get the same sticky texture as the rice.

If it has to be purely paleo, I'd go for ants eggs!!!

why not try: eggs, shredded crab meat, shredded shrimp meat, avocado, cucumber, mushrooms (enoki,maybe?), hearts of palm, or some combination of these?

If you are going to deviate from paleo--maybe quinoa.

Those are good suggestions. But, if you have to use rice, I would use the long grain brown rice instead to reduce the starch content. If you have to use white rice use this: http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/pDetail...&s=1&price=2.6

Why not just eat sashimi and just skip the rice completely? Its much better imo...Looks like I know what I am going to have for dinner tonight!
