Do Fish Oil Tablets Count as Fat Blocks?

Relatively new to zone. 4th day. I just started with the Omega 3 fish oil tablets. Do I count them towards my fat block?

Yes. There should be info on the package as to how much fat is in them.

Actually, those should not count towards your fat blocks. All the reading I've done on Zone, plus more educated folks than myself on this board concur that fish oil caps are supplemental only and should not count towards your daily block count. See numerous related threads for more.

Whoops. My bad. I've been counting them...?? Any more explanation as to why they shouldn't be counted?
Yay-I can eat more fat!

At higher block counts I really wouldn't bother; this is getting into the realm of madness. I suppose if you're small and trying to lean out.

Re: Do Fish Oil Tablets Count as Fat Blocks?

One of the reasons was stated in the "similar thread" section below. Robb Wolf replied to this same inquiry by stating:

"You want to use those n-3 fatty acids for their therapeutic potential, not for energy. if you are too skinny on the fat side they go into the mitochondria as fuel. No Bueno."

I can't explain that, but I like eating fat, and it synchs with what I read in the Sears books. Sorry I can't give you a more details response. If someone else can, I would love to read it as well.
