Fran vs Heavy Fran

After a light morning workout this morning (it was morning here in Japan), I watched the video of Greg doing the heavy fran, kind of as motivation. I decided that I was going to do the Fran workout today regardless of what was posted. Oddly enough, it came up as today's WOD. I must be turning psychic! "Hmm, Confusious says tomorrow is....hmmm.... Rest day"

Anyway, I was wondering what you all preferred. The Fran or the Heavy Fran?

Re: Fran vs Heavy Fran

As a big guy, I think I like Heavy Fran better. This past monday we ran through a "Heavier" than Heavy fran with 185# thruster and 45# weighted pullups at reps of 12/8/5, along with heavy Fran for our vets and regular Fran for our new members who have never had the Fran experience. All six of us who ran the heavier then heavy finished in under 7 minutes, 6 minutes being the best time. It was rough but fun.

Re: Fran vs Heavy Fran

Heavier than Heavy huh? That sounds pretty intense. I can just see the look on my crossfit partner's face when I bring that idea to him.

I've been trying to improve the normal Fran time and got down to 3:24 a couple weeks ago. I don't ever do the heavy Fran because I have been improving my normal Fran time each time I do it. But I'm beginning to level off so I'll have to start throwing in a heavy Fran every now and again to work less on endurance and more on strength.
