Well folks, we had our final meet yesterday, and while I'm a bit disappointed, I can't help but be proud.
Our best finisher was our 7th grade girl with a 6th place finish out of about 80 girls running. Our other top 10's were our 8th grade girl in 10th out of about 100 girls and our 8th grade boy finishing 9th out of 125 boys.
What really amazed me was our novice runners cutting 3-4 minutes off of their 2 mile time from the time we started. That absolutely blew me away!! None of our runners were dead last, and none that I saw walked in the race. If I had more time with these kids, we could have posted incredible results!
There's always next year!
I already have kids asking if they can join us next year after they saw us doing CF workouts, throwing tires, jumping rope, and playing hunter/prey.
Here's the kicker: our season is over, right? They want to practice (read: do a WOD) on Monday. Who am I to say no? I'm gonna fry 'em!!

Thanks to all who posted encouragement, tips, and pointed me in the right direction.
Especially thanks to Eugene up in Tacoma for the great posts. Well done! Hope the T-shirt fits!

The last meeting of the group before the race, I showed them this web site and a couple of the affiliates. They all took down the info and cruised the site that night. Look for some new young members to start posting some incredible results. In other words, look out Greg A.!!

Somewhere in Santa Cruz, a coach is reading this and smiling as his plans for world domination are coming true before his eyes!!

Thanks again all!!

Ron, what a great job of getting the kids excited about being fit. The meet results are gravy! I think those are wonderful finishing places. And they still want to practice - they are already CrossFit addicts!

Any kids on your team want to run in the Carlsbad 5K with me???? :-) (April 3)

Ron - Love the shirt, fits great. Thank you. The performances, medals, places and times will all be forgotten over the years. What will not be forgotten is your enthusiasm the energy with which you pursue success for your kids. Much of my dedication to training comes from my track and cross country coach Jim Underhill. Your kids will remember you for the rest of their life and you are giving them the discipline and courage to do their best which will serve them in everything they do.

Great work.

Thanks guys for the encouragement. I have to say, these kids are nuts about the training.
Dan John said to make something a game and people will do it no matter the activity. The kids love the workouts because they are competeing against the clock and each other; it's all a game and they eat it up.
I was really happy to see them give high-5's and encourage each other to get better times.

Laura,
I'll let them know about the 5K in Carlsbad. I have a few who like to go long distance and are looking for races.
