For those that perform pistols for reps what do you feel the strength carry over is to squats, or do you feel there is one?

I know my squat strength did not carry to pistols in the least

I found that ***-to-grass squatting strength carries over to pistols, provided you have the requisite flexibility.

I have not found pistols for reps or weighted pistols to have any substantial carry-over to back squats. The load is just too low.

My left leg was a lot stronger than my right for some reason, and pistols have helped me straighten that out, which has helped my lifting in a big way. I have also found that doing pistols barefoot really helps me practice driving through the heels out of the bottom of the squat.

My experience is similar to Ross. Olympic tyle back squats translate into good numbers of pistols. I managed to complete 16 (5 pull-ups short of 17) rounds of Mary at HQ with no pistol training. Pistols offer some nice variety and are great when traveling but this is another case of multi-dimensionality: Do heavy Olympic style squat= do pistols. Do only pistols...perhaps not the heavy squat.

My problem was that I was doing powerlifting style squats, even though I was going quite low (off of a 10 inch box and I am 6ft tall), I was sitting back with shins almost perpendicular to the ground. With pistols my shins go pretty far forward by comparisom. I was also doing OHS but with very low weight and not very well at the time.

I have found very little carry over. I can knock off dozens of pistols and I'm not a good squatter (yet).
