As winter approaches, I'm wanting to start stocking my pantry in order to be prepared for bad weather, power outages, etc.
Seems storing food is hard to reconcile with paleo, at least that's what it appears to me. Canned goods are mostly carb stuff, and everything has sooooo much sodium. :-( I'm stocking the freezer with meat. What are some good canned veggies? Spinach? Anyway, just thought there might be some others who have dealt with this situation before (i.e. not being able to get to the store for possibly a few weeks). |

Canned wild atlantic salmon for protein. Nuts for fat. Fresh sweet potatoes for carbs (Wikipedia says they keep for up to 6 months).
That's how I would do it. |

Wish I could help out..but I live in Atlanta and we have one snow day a year. I'd do the canned tuna, salmon, chicken, freeze meats, frozen veggies, some brown rice (uncooked), nute (you can freeze them), etc...oh and don't forget a 12 of Guiness.

Not sure how far you'd want to take it but you could always look into old fashioned canning with mason jars like it was done before the fridge. Very time consuming but done right it is a great way to put up food. About anything can be stored when properly canned, fruits, veggies, etc.
