Looking for SoCal (OC) Box Recommendations

Hey all,

I live in Orange County, CA and looking for recommendations for a new box. The current box I am in the programming is lacking in the strength dept. Its very heavy on conditioning.
Anyone has any recommendations for Gyms in orange county.
Purposely leaving out which one I go to. It would be interesting to see my current box being suggested. It may give me some perspective coming from someone else.

OC is pretty big and traffic can be a disaster. Where do you live? North, south, inland, beaches? If you live in Dana Point, it wouldn't do you much good to get a recommendation for a gym in Anaheim, would it?

You're right. I am in Irvine. So in the Santa Ana, Anaheim, Irvine, Tustin Costa Mesa area. I work in Newport Beach

This (WFS) was John Welbourn's gym before he started doing his own thing with Power Athlete...I'm guessing the coaches who are still there know a few things about getting people stronger.

Yeah, Balboa is still a great choice with plenty of very strong people. Ben is running the show over there now and he is very committed to strength programming.

And Ben is just a rad dude overall.

I'm just around the corner from them at CrossFit Newport Beach. You could almost throw a rock and hit our gym from there. I wouldn't say we have a strong strength bias compared to them though. We do have a dedicated oly class a couple times a week and do follow a strength program 2-4 days a week before the wod.

CrossFit Costa Mesa. I don't know about their programming, but I know Max Mormont is a great coach and knows the strength side very well.

CrossFit Tustin seams to be making some waves over there and it sounds pretty close to you. I'd check them out.
