Well I gave it a shot later, I guess it wasn't anything a couple of beers couldn't take care of, I ended up with 3 x 325.

Re: Yet another Wendler 5-3-1 Template

Deadlifted yesterday:

Cycle 6 Week 1 Day 2 Deadlift 5+

5 @ 400

Just got my new 2012 Rogue Do-Wins (my 2010's were falling apart). The first 4 reps were solid. I don't know what it was though. On the 5th rep my low back unlocked, so I had to re-bend my knees to finish the rep. Barely got it.

Bench tonight

Re: Yet another Wendler 5-3-1 Template

not sure if you guys remember, but I posted (several pages and months ago) that I was going to experiment with putting weighted pullups on a 5/3/1 program on a 5th day to see what happens.

I tested my pullups today, and was able to rip out 5 pretty solid reps with 110 dumbell.

I would have gone heavier, but that was the heaviest dumbell my gym has, and I didn't feel like messing with a bunch of plates.

Must say, I am pretty happy with the progress - considering I also weigh ~5 lbs more that I did when I started.

What weight did you start at? I already added front squats and power cleans to the mix might as well add these...

70x1 to 110x5 in a few months? Nice work.

I had just started doing 5/3/1 reps and %'s on my pullups a few months ago then had to halt all upper body work when I hyperextended my elbow 4 weeks ago. Was making decent progress though.

Re: Yet another Wendler 5-3-1 Template

Thanks. To be fair, that 70lb was an estimate at the time - so there is a chance I was a little stronger than that when I started - but not much.

I am sure I would not have been able to get 70x5.

That sucks with your elbow. Can you do bench or press? I am battling some tendonitis right now - it flares up when I start, but usually dissapates about half way through my workout.

Wow, that's an awesome testimonial for weighted pull-ups. Did you work strictly pull ups or chins too? What were your cycle increases?

Re: Yet another Wendler 5-3-1 Template

Can't really do anything aside from squats, good mornings, and Bulgarian split squats all with the safety squat bar. Even heavy LBBS hurt it from trying to support the bar on my back, though I am able to do DE box squats since they're only at about 50% of my 1RM.

Re: Yet another Wendler 5-3-1 Template

Strictly pullups for the 5/3/1 sets.

I do rotate chins in on my 2 sets of 10 at 60% every other mesocycle.

I've been doing 5lb increases, and just always rounding up. I tried microloading in the beginning, but it was too much of a pain in the a**.
