What I'd like to see at the 2012 games

Good old fashion CrossFit WODs !!!

Sure, the beach wod was neat, monkey bars are fun, and yeah, softball throwing is... well, softball throwing.

I'd love to see a games consisting of :

Fran (thrusters / pull ups)
Grace (ground to oh)
Diane (deads / ring dips)
Kelly (run / box jumps / wall balls)
Run 1 mile for time
max wt ohs for 5 reps
then maybe a rope climb / kb swing / burpee wod - max rounds in 20 minutes

That's old school CrossFit right there !!!

I'd like to see a 1RM Back Squat in there somewhere. Other than that I'm sure HQ will programme the right stuff and hit all the components of fitness.

Re: What I'd like to see at the 2012 games

I thought the handstand walk, l-sit, and ball throw event were awesome, and would like to see the same event next year simply for comparison purposes. Swimming was cool, but maybe some more gymnastics stuff, like something with an insane amoutn of rope climbs (maybe as many climbs as possible in 10 mins or something like that).

I agree with the 1RM Squat, but I think DL might be cooler (similar to the event in 2009), or even 10 mins to establish a 1RM snatch

That would be very interesting, but I feel it would be too technical. I've been training Javelin for a year and only now am starting to feel like I understand the technique fully.

Think of what would happen if you take a bunch of athletes that are unaware of how to throw a baseball, and ask them to compete in one of the most technical track and field sports there is?

Hilarity will definitely be the result.

On a side note, are there any CF'ers who went to the games and throw javelin?

10 minutes for a 1 RM snatch was also 2009.

I'd love to see some more balance oriented stuff or a real obstacle course, and one that has practical application. Something like pulling a 175# dummy out from a building for time.

1) Crossfit total ranked as a % of body weight
2) 2K row
3) One of "The girls."
4) One of "The Heros"
5) A 10 round tabata bottom to bottom squat, 1 minute rest, then 10 rounds of tabata HSPU, for max reps.
6) Some outrageous chipper to end it all.

I would agree, one of the classic CF wods would be great to see. Ya we got triple Helen in 2010 but I would like to see one that everyone could actually relate to because they have gone through the exact same pain as the athletes.

Re: What I'd like to see at the 2012 games

Scoring a strength event by % to bodyweight defeats the point of the event.

If I was Khalipa I would be rather annoyed if I deadlifted 550 at 205 (2.68xBW) but lost because Spealler lifted 440 at 145 (3xBW).

That doesn't seem right to me if someone who lifted less wins

...especially since the endurance events favour the lighter guys.

It's meant to be an all around test, absolute numbers or nothing please.
