100 pushup challenge

http://hundredpushups.com/week1.html

I found this cool workout program online to get one to do 100 pushups in 7 weeks I believe. It takes a volume training approach, and only training 3 days a week so I was thinking itd be a fun challenge to throw into your routine.

Anyone ever tryr this program out?
Also, what do you guys think about applying this to hand-release pushups?

Re: 100 pushup challenge

I've run across the program, but haven't tried it myself.

If you decide to follow it, keep posting your progress and thoughts.

Re: 100 pushup challenge

I did it four months ago. I was stuck at 65-70 push-ups depending on the day. I followed it and only improved to 88 push-ups. I can still do 65-70 push-ups.

If your a completely un-trained person then you might see better progress than someone who is trained.

Re: 100 pushup challenge

I'm keen to be a guinea pig on it. My pushups could use some work. Just worried it'd affect my recovery (wendler + wods 4x a week each).

Re: 100 pushup challenge

I did a program like that to slightly less than 60, but never could progress that.

Re: 100 pushup challenge

Thanks for the link...push-ups are a weakness of mine so I'm going to give this a whirl as well.

In their definition of a pushup, they are using more of a military style standard (elbows breaking 90 degrees). I'm going chest and chin to ground. Onviously hand release or any other complication will be harder, but the numbers shoud still play out.

My first max effort assesment was 26, so that gave me a starting point of Week 3. Did my first sets today (14-18-14-14-20). The 20 was pretty painful.

Keep us posted on your results, I'll do the same.

Re: 100 pushup challenge

I did my initial test with hand release and got 19. Really taking your time and focusing on your chest and triceps tensing and keeping a tight core made those 19 pushups surprisingly difficult. I'm "supersetting" this program with the 50 pullups program, found on the same website, along with my own training for the New England Firebreather Festival coming up at CFNE.

I post progress when I take my next max test!

Re: 100 pushup challenge

Ok I'm in too My Pushups, bench press & Handstand pushups are all my weakest elements.

I'll kick it off on Monday 5th and post my results as I go too.
I'm thinking after the 7 weeks are up i'll use the same programe for HSPU and see what happens?

Re: 100 pushup challenge

So I did the initial test and only got 42... Boy I've got along way to go to get to 100!

Good news is that I get to jump straight to week 3
