2011 CF Games NEW SCORING

So, new scoring system...

Better/worse/indifferent?

Your thoughts,

3,2,1 Go!

Good stuff. Kudos to HQ for finally adopting new practices based on lessons from previous years. Cue the righteous indignation from whoever calculates how gypped athlete X was in 2009/2010 based on the new method...

Affiliate Cup should be more exciting this year.

Re: 2011 CF Games NEW SCORING

The individual's scoring system looks great but I don't know how I'd feel about the changes if I was competing for an affiliate. Don't get me wrong, it'll make for an epic finish from the spectator's standpoint, but it'd be terrible to dominate the weekend only to lose it in the final event. Hopefully HQ has some tricks up their sleeve to keep it both fair and exciting.

No different than a team dominating through the NFL playoffs or NCAA tournament then blowing it in the Super Bowl or National Championship game....

Good point. If that was the reasoning behind the final then I wonder why it wasn't used for the individuals as well? or possibly use an '08 style delayed start based on point differences...

Re: 2011 CF Games NEW SCORING

I like it for the affiliate cup. And just an FYI I'm competing in it.

It will make it more exciting, and things are different with a team comp rather than individuals. I kinda like the qualifying process. Individuals have to be on their game all weekend, every point counts. Same goes for teams....but its so different based on strategic placement of members in WOD's, etc.
I imagine the final workout will be quite complex and involve every team member in some fashion, which is good. It's not a true team comp if 3-4 people do the majority of the work.
I wonder what the rules will be like. They threw a curveball right before regionals saying each athlete could only do one event per day. Made things much more interesting.

Re: 2011 CF Games NEW SCORING

One question: How would this scoring system have impacted previous games?

One opinion: I like the reasoning behind the change. I still prefer the lowest points win format and it's easy to replicate the above desire (lessoning impact of cuts on scoring). First through tenth is one point per place. 11th through 30th is 2 points. 31st through 50th is 3 points per place.

So,
1st-10th
1
2
3
...
9
10

11th - 30th
12
14
16
...
48
50

31st - 50th
53
56
59
...
107
110
