Gripper work in WODs

Hi,

Could people post any gripper work that they incorporate into their WODs? Thanks,

Justin

Into the WODs as in not supplemental stuff outside of the main WOD?

Until I get/manufacture a thick bar, I have only done Farmer's walks, Rope Climbs (no legs), and towel, or rope pull-ups...

I've mixed in some thick handle holds before but I think it'd be cool to mix in some pinch grip deads or cleans into a WOD...

have you ben mixing stuff into WODs? I'd love to do some of the named WODs with a thick bar, that would absolutely SUCK!

Sounds like something that could be done as a finisher quite well or skill work.

I was thinking into the WODs. I wish I had a thick bar! I have COCs T-3, and an Ivanko SuperGripper.

I think that's why Justin is asking, because typically most of us that do grip work do it that way, as skill work or a finisher... But it would be fun to throw some serious grip work into a WOD at times...

Justin,

I have only gone up to COC #2...I need to get a higher COC and a clamp so I can start working on 2.5 and 3 eventually...

Re: Gripper work in WODs

I use the FatGripz available from EliteFTS among other places, generally in my warmups.

The FatGripz are heavy rubber-ish sleeves that slip over the barbell or dumbbell grip to mimic a fat bar at a fraction of the cost.

I usually use them in my warmups, for example, if I'm warming up to deadlift heavy, I'll use the FatGripz for a set or two at 135#, maybe at 225# before going to work with just the bar.

I'll also use them for dumbbell work, farmers walks, etc.

one handed chins. Whatever smokes your forearms will help your grip, like heavy kettlebell snatches/swings.

You Can't Lift What You Can't Hold On To

Good article. Basically rotate through the different types of grip work during the week as you do each workout and leave some days for recovery. Levering/forearm work is also covered in the article but not mentioned in the article description.

You can also check out the beginner's program over on the Grip Board, although that's more intensive for a given day, but you only do it 2-3 days a week.

You can use a rice bucket too as shown here:
