Do you go to another gym AND Crossfit?

So a friend invited me to a hip-hop class last night at the new gym up the street. She didn't want to go by herself, so I said I would do it with her.

All I can say is WOW! This gym is awesome! Sauna, Jacuzzi hot tub, Steam room filled with the smell of eucalyptis, hair dryers and vanity stations as far as the eye could see, huge and deep lockers, soft towels, regulation BB courts, 2 pools, tons of group classes, etc. There are too many amenities to mention. I was blown away.

Don't get me wrong, I heart my Crossfit affiliate, and there is something to be said for working out in a small garage with no A/C, in Florida, in the summer...makes me feel tough. But just for once I'd like to take a shower after a workout and not still be sweating afterwards! To go to work with fully dryed hair! To not spend 10 minutes trying to get my pants on because they are sticking to my wet legs!

Also, I forgot how much fun the regular gym group classes are! I got a moderate workout, but I didn't care, I was having a blast! I would never use these classes as my only workout because I wouldn't see the results that I get with doing Crossfit, but I was thinking about joining for the hobby aspect of it.

Hubby and I are paying $250/mth to go to Crossfit. This gym is $50/mth. So I was thinking regular gym in the morning before work so I can take advantage of the hair dryers and A/C etc., then Crossfit after work.

Does anyone else do this? I don't think the extra $50 will break the bank, but I will have to convince Hubby to let me spend it.

If you can afford it I don't see why not.
We have a gym up the road that has a basketball court, a sauna and a pool. I like to go up there every now and then to swim and shoot hoops. Nothing wrong with that.

I currently belong to three gyms, it used to be four (the fourth was a MMA gym). it's definitely excessive, but whatever works for you

LOL

I still have a 9-5, so I go to 24hr at lunch to do my strength stuff. I basically go to bench, press, squat and deadlift once a week. I hit CF 714 at night to run our PM classes and then do a quick CFFB wod and take off. This keeps me from eating a bunch of crappy food at lunch, and not spending too much time at the box away from my wife and kids. Not ideal, but it gets the job done. And to be honest, I still enjoy going to 24hr

Re: Do you go to another gym AND Crossfit?

After my office relocated to Philadelphia, I got a great offer for a corporate membership. Tried it out for a little and realized I could focus two workouts into one day. Plus I made a ton of new friends at the new gym and found a crew doing Crossfit. Really happy I made the jump and joined not to mention what great shape two workouts produce.

Did they pull a gun on you to get you to pay that much?

It's 250 a month to train in what you call a small garage with no air conditioning, and 50 a month to train in a gym loaded with stuff. They must be in an expensive part of town or there gouging you considerably. In my unexperienced opinion.

I have to agree with Kevin. My recommendation is quit the affiliate and do your own workouts at the gym.
