ive been fallowing the wod for a few months now and am going to start training for an ironman event. well ive been told that i should stop lifting and just concentrate on distance (running,swimming and biking). so my question is should i do the wod in addition to the distance or just focus on distance until the event?

Crossfit WOD 4-5 times a week with Crossfit Endurance. There are a million posts about this. Start searching here and then go over to the CF Endurance site for their forum.
