Towel pull-ups is a substitute. I think saw somewhere on the message board that 10 pull-ups roughly equals one trip up the rope.

If you click on the Exercises topic there's more info. on substitute exercises.

I just installed a rope climb on a tree outside my place. I screwed an eyebolt in a limb and strung the rope through the eye, tied it off, done. Cost $5 for the rope.

Well, I did today's workout today, instead of trying to do yesterday's swimming workout (which I missed). (Yeah, I wimped out, despite yesterday boldly promising to do the 1K swim in under 2 hours).

Today: got 5 rounds in either 13 or 18 minutes (there seems to be some confusion over where the minute hand was when we started). I gotta believe it was 18 minutes, 'cause I think I spent at least a minute between each round trying to get enough breath to start the next one. I don't think I could do that workout in 13 minutes.

But . . . no cheating on the specifications! (well, almost no cheating). Did the swings with 50. Did the rope climb all the way up to the top (30 feet)! Did the touch and go a second time -- NOT. (Coach, are there people there who really do that?)

Thanks for another great workout!

Thanks for the suggestions!

I need to start posting my question in advance and stop putting it off. I had to workout before I went to work (graveyard shift) but there weren't any replies by then. So I did strict pull-ups, as many as I could in 20Secs. I also did the kettlebell swings with 50lbs barbells (my kettlebells are not here yet).

Regardless, I got my butt kicked!

Thanks everyone!
Matt
