Re: 12 University of Iowa football players injured

I'm not sure if trainers are allowed to workout athletes or not right now.

As a Hawkeye fan, I like to hear they are taking early season training seriously, don't like hearing they are ending up in the hospital.

Re: 12 University of Iowa football players injured

From the reports from ESPN, based upon player facebook pages they did 100 Squats (weight has not been determined) and 100 yard sled push (weight of sled unknown). It sounds like this is a program that has been used in the past in winter training based upon what a former player said. Very often coaches use tough workouts in the winter to run off fringe players. By no means does it make is OK to have 12 players in the hospital. There is a line of smart tough programing and killing people and this line was crossed. Not having a clear idea of what kids are ready for can get you into a heap of trouble, as we shall see in the coming weeks.

One article said that the NCAA allowable period started last week maybe. The strength and conditioning coaches are allowed to lead workouts for the football team..
