Morning crossfitters

How many early morning/before work crossfitters do we have? And do you eat anything before the workout?

Re: Morning crossfitters

I do Crossfit most mornings at 6:30am with a few buddies. I love getting the day started with crossfit.

Re: Morning crossfitters

I have been doing a mix of weight lifting and HIIT at 5:30am for years. I am new to Crossfit so I will have to see what lies ahead but in the past I have eaten a small bowl of oatmeal before I head out to the gym.

Re: Morning crossfitters

I do a 6am crossfit class every morning. I have never eaten anything before. Performance has been consistently accelerating. Also, its my experience with other types of training that if you are going to eat it needs to be about 1.5 hours ahead in order to get the benefits of it in your body. Also, for a 20 minute workout (normally the most crossfit is) you shouldn't need to eat. Your body should have stores for more than an hour or an hour and a half.

I do CrossFit around 0630 too, rolling solo. I've noticed that I have more energy during my workouts when I have a bowl of Kashi Heart to Heart cereal for breakfast, usually about an hour before. With that said, I'll be eating a bowl of oatmeal tomorrow morning, so we'll see how it goes.

Re: Morning crossfitters

Workouts are typically 6 am or 7:30 am. (depends on my buddy's firefighting schedule). I rarely eat before the workouts. Getting to bed early enough the night before is a bigger struggle and I think a good night's sleep matters much much more than a meal before the workout.

Re: Morning crossfitters

6:00 to 7:30

One tablespoon of coconut oil just before going to gym.

If you eat within 15 minutes (post workout) you will grow muscle.

If you wait 90 minutes (post workout) you will burn fat like crazy.

Re: Morning crossfitters

I switch between morning and evening classes. When I do the morning classes (6:00) I usually don't eat, but it depends if I feel hungry or not. If I am hungry I will grab something small and easy like a handfull of peanuts. Usually I just wait until I get back for breakfast though.

My workout times/weights do tend to be lower in the morning classes though, I think this is more to do with the cold and my body just not having fully woken up yet though.
