I was in Barnes & Noble today and I saw a new book by Steven Ilg called Total Body Transformation. Steven Ilg is a world champion in 4 different sports, and a state cycling champion. He did this after coming back from a 50 foot fall that broke his back. He is also a yoga teacher. Like Crossfit, his book addresses multiple aspects of fitness. It relies upon yoga, weight training, cardio, meditation and more.
He has some really interesting training techniques. For example, he has people lift a heavy dumbell for 6-8 reps while they are holding a heavy dumbell in their other arm and doing the exercise with an isometric contraction. Next set switch sides.
