Max distance run for an unknown time domain. Give them a :30 briefing and say go. Maybe 10:00 total.

Re: What I'd like to see at the 2012 games

I still think we need to see some real-world measurables. You want to crown the fittest man and woman on earth? Then Day 1 should be Run a Tough Mudder style 10k, followed by a 30 min rest, then Crossfit Total. (Or reverse the order if you'd like).

Day 2, should be an NFL combine-style event. Measure 40 yd dash (or 100m for the purists), 225 Bench press for reps (oh noes!!) Vertical jump (or max height box jump), Shuttle run, Cone drill, and broad jump. Hell, have em' toss a javelin as the skill portion of the event. Hey, it's paleo right? Lets see if Crossfit REALLY forges "Elite Fitness".

Day 3 should be 3 Mainpage METCON WOD's, and get this - Lets have a fan vote, American Idol-style with the results of the vote released LIVE to the audience AND the athletes. Basically, they won't know what to expect until they come out of the tunnel. The top 3 WOD's, as voted by the Viewers/Fans are the events of the day.
*For simplicity's sake, you could limit the pool WODs to a scope of "Only WOD's that have appeared on the main page since the date that the Open started."

How's that for "The Unknown and Unknowable"???

1,000 pullups for time. All athletes are then blind folded and taken to an defferent locations 20 miles away from which they must then make it back to the stadium for the next WOD of a 100k row for time.

I'd like to see pre-qualified individuals forbidden from competing on their gym's team at regionals.

Re: What I'd like to see at the 2012 games

I would be happy just to be able to watch 2012 Games at all
ESPN deal really sucks as it is not available worldwide and unfortunately AT&T fixed the bug which allowed access to their archives last year.
I have 8 months to find a friend in the US who would share his credentials with me for ESPN.
2010 games coverage was by far the best until now.

From what I heard, teams must select their 6 members and two backups prior to the start of the Open. That way, individual games competitors cannot booster a teams score with no intention of competing on the team.

I think I must have heard wrong.

According to the Games site here: http://games.crossfit.com/content/games-2012 (work family safe):

"You can compete both as an Individual and on a Team."

Well, that bites. Someone got my hopes up there for a minute. Would much rather see them require teams to select its members before the start of the Open.

I agree, allowing people prequalified in the individual competition to compete in teams is an absolute joke.

You do not get the best teams though to the Games, you get the best individual compediors who decide to prop up their team.
