The Zone Diet or the Caveman Diet
Should a new CF'er looking to lose weight - waistline inches - look to the Zone Diet or the Caveman Diet? Are these two compatible?

Re: The Zone Diet or the Caveman Diet
Just to warn you, this is a fairly common question that crops up all the time. Caveman (a.k.a. paleo or stone age diet) deals with which foods (i.e. meats, veggies, fruits, no grains, sugars, dairy). Zone deals with quantities (how much, in what ratios, at what times, etc.). You can do one or the other, or both together (that's what many elite Crossfitters do). Basically eat paleo in Zone proportions. Search around the forums and you will find tons more information.

Re: The Zone Diet or the Caveman Diet
Just to back Jeff up on this; I asked this question to Dr. Mike at my Level I cert last weekend and he pretty much said the same thing. You CAN do one or the other but for optimal performance it is recommended that you do both....

Re: The Zone Diet or the Caveman Diet
I find paleo easier to do than the zone because for paleo, you don't have to weigh and measure everything. You just eat meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, some fruit, little starch; no sugar, grains, dairy, or legumes. It's really quite simple. Once you get the hang of paleo, try doing the Zone with paleo food. It is the best way to achieve the fastest results, in your case being weightloss.
