With 3 regional competitions out of the way so far this year, I'm at two wins, and one 2nd place.
I've been following the crossfit, ME, crossfit routine for roughly 8 mos. now, aside from a few minor hiccups(partially torn achilles tendon). Aside frome this, I try to get event training once, or maybe twice a week. If I don't feel the WOD is suited to my goals at the particular time, I'll bypass it in favour of one I feel will benefit me in my pursuit. I know the purists will say that this approach will keep me from being the best "all around" athlete I can be. But right now, "generality" isn't what I'm looking for. The highlights so far have been: Pulling a school bus for 75 feet. Don't even ask me what it weighed. Lots! Cleaning a 290lb log. Even though I wasn't able to press it. Farmers walks with 305lbs per hand, for 75 feet. Flipping an 800lb tire for 100 feet in 62 seconds. Things are looking up! |

Great work Steve!
Those are some big lifts! I can only just break 200lb farmers off the ground and carry them about 15ft and flip a 700lb tyre once! Lucky i'm a lightweight:blush: A few of the CF Sydney guys are going to have a go at qualifying for strongman nationals this September. I've just finished a squat specialization routine and am now back to morning event training + CF workout and afternoon O lifting. I don;t have access to a full blown gym so what i've done is written up on cards a series of CF workouts that i can do with what i've got here and i just draw a card at random for each day. |

You freaking monster. Pull a school bus? My God, I need help to push start a scooter. The log cleaning I could do assuming I had a good rag and some polish. I've got you on this one because I actually, no kidding, won an award at at the 2005 Sea2Summit race at one of the special tasks when I did the best ironing of a shirt. I could press that log with no problem. I could probably walk 75 feet with a 305 pound farmer, I don't see what the big deal is about that one. I might be able to flip off an 800 lb tire but I have trouble enough flipping the 300 pounder I have.
Steven, you are incredible. Amazing work. Keep us posted on your exploits. Though they produce feelings of escalating inadequacy, I am amazed at the things people can accomplish. |
