I know the creative CF community can help me out here. We are planning a CrossFit Field Day to introduce the CF concept in our area.
Yes, there will be exercises, but there will be "games" as well (It doesn't have to be fun to be fun). So far, we've got: Hoover Ball Kettlebell Horsehoes Medicine Ball Bocci Tug-of-war Sandbag Toss We are open to suggestions, and we do plan to actually use this stuff, but, CrossFit humor is also appreciated. Help us out, okay? We will provide "free passes" to any NY Times journalists who would like to come and "play". |

Are you planning on any relay races?
As an elementary PE teacher, they are a big hit. But that would mean making teams. |

We have a ton. One of the favorites is dodgeball. Played in the standard way, with the exception of when you are out you do an exercise(say 10 squats) and then rejoin the game.

Egg and spoon race...spoon is a shovel, egg is a kettlebell. Second thing that popped into my head...first thing was someway to brutalise ping pong...

Ultimate Medicine Ball.
Played just like Ultimate Frisbee, and once you get it rolling, it can be a great workout for those terrified/previously traumatized by Hooverball. No guarding the passer, and obviously no throwoff between points (team that got scored on gets the ball at midfield worked for us). |

I second Dodgeball. I'm also the State commissioner for the International Dodgeball Federation for the state of Hawaii.
Don't believe me? Check it out: http://www.dodge-ball.com/site/ Click on Hawaii. Train hard, SCRAP |

Scrapper, since you're in town, I might have to "volunteer" you for the Dodge Ball games.
Are you going to use medicine balls for that?:-) (Don't start "loading" yet, I was only kidding!) The Egg & Spoon Race and Ultimate Medicine Ball all sound great! This town will never be the same! |

Team Standing Broad Jump. 50 yards, each jump starts from the landing spot of the previous jump. Team with the fewest number of jumps wins.

Wheelbarrow races. Classic. (obviously the partner one, where one is walking with hands, other is carrying their legs). Add an obstacle course, for more fun. Climb over things. Like other people. Heck, that's Twister, for reps. That would be fun.
Do medicine ball tosses, for distance, like the balloon toss, and back progressively away. Use a 10 lb ball or so. Maybe even a little lighter, so you can get a decent distance. See who can hop on one leg the longest. |
