Re: Tim's 2007 Omnipotent Man-Dude Training Log

12/3/07:

Tired
5 rounds for time:
-5 tire flips
-30 jumps to the rim
-20 pushups, feet on rim

I did 3 rounds in 11:49. Could have squeezed in another round, maybe two more, before I ran out of time and had to get ready for work, but I was overcome by mental weakness.

Wsup Tim. Manmaker's are beast. How heavy is your tire/where do you train? really wish I had one of those to flip around.

And do you have a specific goal for the bench press? You seem to be doing it a lot.

I'm not sure how heavy the tire is. It's an old backhoe tire. It's really easy to get a tire, just go to Les Schwab or some other tire place and offer to take one off their hands. They have to pay to dispose of old tires; most places have a huge pile out back awaiting disposal. They would most likely love it if you took a big one because it would save them some money.

I train in my garage.

My main goal for 2007 was to do "Linda" as rx'ed...and the bench is my weak point. My clean and deadlift are strong enough, but the bench is weak, so I'm working it a lot. My bw is 225 and my all-time 1 rep PR on bench is 205.

Thanks for dropping in!

Ah. Very cool, now I only need a place to keep the tire....

Anyway, good luck!

Maybe check out some westside powerlifting stuff. Can definitely put on more than 10% a month on your max if you want.

Re: Tim's 2007 Omnipotent Man-Dude Training Log

Catching up...I didn't work out for 2 straight weeks (during which time I had 8 concerts to deal with - I'm a Music Teacher), and since starting out again I haven't posted. So, here they are:

12/24/07:
12 days of Christmas
12 ball slams
11 double unders
10 wall ball
9 SDHP, 45 lb
8 kb snatch, 35 lbs
7 tire flips
6 box jumps, 20"
5 pullups
4 burpees
3 sandbag shoulders, 100 lbs
2 muscle ups (jumping - rings at nose height)
1 rope climb, 10'

This is done just like the song, so round 1 is 1 rope climb, round 2 is 2 muscle ups and a rope climb, round 3 is 3 sandbag shoulders 2 muscle ups and a rope climb, etc. I got done with round 9 in 24:59, then my family's needs intruded and I had to stop.

12/25/07:
bench press
135x10, 155x8, 165x6, 175x4, 185x2, 195x1, 205x1, 210xfail

12/27/07:
Tabata Tire Fun
8 Tabata intervals each of:
-jump on, in, on, out
-flip it
-whale on it with a 10 lb sledgehammer
-flip it
-jump on, in, on, out
scored as total reps

The last time I did this workout was 7/9/06, and I got 255. Today I did 275.

Last spring I dropped a bunch of weight, and now all the weight I lost last spring has crept back on, especially since I haven't been working out as intensely and regularly this fall. I'm back to 232 as of this morning. It's just SO HARD to go out to the garage and work out at 5 am, and that's really the only time I can do it. I need to stay focused, and go back on the diet.

-35 lb kettlebell swing
-double unders
Finished in 18:45.
