Re: Hunger on the zone

Could mean a lot of things, could be your bodies reaction to a lot less high-GI carbs, could be you reduced your calorie intake so much that your body is feeling deficient. Could be you are dehydrated and need to drink a lot more water and it is showing the symptom of being hungry. We need more info.

Re: Hunger on the zone

I've been hungry every day since I started the Zone! lol!

If you just started it may just be you're adjusting to the sudden change in amount of calories - if you're eating less than you're used to, that is.

Try drinking lots of fluids!

Re: Hunger on the zone

If I'm hungry do I eat a snack or wait till the next snack/meal. The way that I have been doing it is if I am hungry I will eat a little snack to avoid eating too much at my meal. I don't zone, but drink plenty of water, and don't do a lot of carbs.

Re: Hunger on the zone

I've been having the same issue. I have been pretty much directly in the center of the zone for the last month (no alcohol, no dietary slip ups) and have been getting very hungry.

I have noticed that if I remove a block of carbohydrate and replace it with a block of fat I've had less hunger, but still am dealing with more hunger than before.

Re: Hunger on the zone

I have not found hunger to be an issue as long as I follow "the rules" and I'm about 6 weeks into the Zone. I eat breakfast around 6:00 am, snack around 10:00, lunch around 2:00, snack around 6:00 and dinner around 9:00.
I am on a 16 block diet.

Technically, my meals are probably too close together and I leave a big gap between dinner and breakfast... but hey - what am I going to do, wake up int hemiddle of the night, eat, then go back to sleep? For me, sleep is important. So in that sense I am a bad "Zoner" and don't get then next meal in within 5 hours of the last.

For those of you who are hungry:
What is your block intake?
Are you hitting that amount?
What are the types of blocks you are consuming for your snacks/meals?
How are they spaced throughout the day?

Re: Hunger on the zone

I defy anybody to NOT be hungry on 11 blocks! lol!

It's not as bad as when I first started a few months back, but I'm still definitely hungry and watching the clock 'til I can eat again.

I'm eating eggs, cheese, meats, veggies and fruit. Nuts and avocados for fat.

Re: Hunger on the zone

Okay, Becca - you got me there. I'd be hungry on 11 blocks too! But on 11 blocks I would not only be hungry, but I would have zero energy and would not be able to maintain my bodyweight either!

PS: your food choices sound eerily similar to mine.

Re: Hunger on the zone

Becca, I too am basically eating 11 blocks now. Was on 10 with 3x fat but realize I have crept up to 11 with the extra fat. The last two days, I was more paleo within zone parameters and less "measuring" and more "eyeballing." So far, I feel its working! My food choices are similar to yours. I dont do dairy, grains, gluten or nightshades either.

Zone/paleo can be challenging and hunger is one of the challenges. I do often find that sometimes thirst feels like hunger!

Re: Hunger on the zone

I try to follow the Zone in terms of what I eat, but I don't limit my blocks. I just eat whenever I'm hungry. That and Crossfitting has got me feeling pretty fit and relatively lean.

Is it pretty much always the case that eating the proper amount of food blocks leaves you hungry? I was thinking about taking the next step of tracking my blocks, but I'm not so good at living hungry.
