Outdoor bumper plate storage

My new bumpers are coming monday and since I plan to do all of my workouts in the yard, and a shed is not an option (small yard in a rented Brooklyn apartment) do you think storing them in a large rubbermaid storage bin with a contractor bag over the top will do?

I assume that the only part susceptible to bad weather is the steel ring, right? Any better ideas? (I will store the barbell inside.)
