Re: Open Competition

Whoa, that is a long way to commute! Either way, if anyone is around Menifee, CA during the open weeks, call me or email and I'd be glad to host and verify scores. For free.

If you are a member of that box and that box is charging you extra to compete in the open I would find a new box.

That is a very low act and is basically a dirty money grabbing tactic.

Re: Open Competition

Ok, I see what's going on now. That's messed up that they are charging you extra to represent their gym in the Open. That would be like MJ paying the Bulls for the privilege to play on their team.

I would go to a different box.

Re: Open Competition

I agree with the above.
If you are already a paying member of the gym, I do not think that they are providing you with an additional service by validating your WOD for the Open... that should just be a part of their "cost of doing business."

If you were going to a gym where you were NOT a paying member, then I could possibly see them asking for a small fee to cover the additional expense of having certified staff on hand for the (presumed) additional influx of lots of people who were only showing up there to get their WOD score validated..

Re: Open Competition

Wow...charging current members to complete the open workouts. That seems ridiculous to me. I think a lot of places are even programming the open wods as part of their programming. And I can see charging non-members for the resource gain, however I would argue that you would be better off welcoming non-members for free - potential new clients! (Assuming you are not getting huge numbers that really affect your business negatively).

Re: Open Competition

I think it's TJ's Gym that is charging for any others in the area who are interested. Not sure why since from the looks of it they've been getting bigger and bigger over the last couple years.
