CrossFit and Other Sports

Hi all

Can anyone tell me of their experience of using Crossfit, 3 on one off, and performing at other sports such as BJJ, Judo, MMA, Soccer etc.

I had been doing crossfit only in the past and now i would like to get back into another sport , Judo and BJJ, but wonder how the extra training, 3 times a week, for the other sports will affect my performance both on the WOD and in the other sport, as i am usually tired from just doing the WOD. Should the WOD be scaled back, or days reduced or just do the lot an suck it up?

Thanks in advance

T

Listen to your body. If you need extra rest, take it.

I haven't been doing CF for long; I added it on top of a pretty solid aikido base. At least at my current level of fitness, I'm finding that I need two complete rest days from both activities per week.

Only you can answer this for yourself. Best "stategy" is to cut way way back, and add stuff into your wod/sport training slowly to avoid overtraining.

what he said. I would also look at doing CFSB or another strength biased program becuase most combat sports already train endurance and stamina, but don't really train limit strength.

If you do judo, EASE into it. Judo is very very hard on the body. I found it hard to balance working out and judo.

Yeah judo messes me up bad. I do BBJ now but just doing one day of throws puts me down for what feels like a week.
