I entered a Judo competition on Saturday and competed in the 81kg class. There's a full write up in my journal, but for those who may not read it, here's the vid!

Oh, I'm the short guy with the shaved head!

Great foot work, I like the first match where he pivoted too much and you made him pay for the full rotation on his part. Missed his hold on you a couple of times and you just pounced on him.

Congrats!

Thanks Jerry! Not bad for having a strained calf!!

H. Giovanni, thank you! The first take down was actually a botched attempt on my apart. He's supposed to go straight over top and land on his back, but my calf gave out and he took side mount. Luckily I hooked a leg and flipped him (damn fast too!), but that was the only time he was in a dominate position. The second take down, I knew he was going to try that throw, not sure why, but I just knew it. I managed to time my counter well and got better leverage than him. He's a really good athlete and was by far my toughest opponent. Much respect to him!!

At the 1 minute and 13 sec mark of the video, I liked that take down. Overall you have good footwork and I can tell that you are a good tactician that is always thinking and looking for your opponents weaknesses an not waiting for them to attack you only.

Thank you, Peter. I'm actually surprised to hear comments about my foot work. I've never spent time working on it and I'm probably the worst dancer in the world!

The feet may not be useful in making you a world class dancer. But they can be used to help you kick some world class butt.
A lot of it I'm sure is instinct when you are competing. Sometimes if I overthink my plan instead of letting the natural flow happen, I get popped in the nose or other sensative body parts.
BTW, nice shiny head.
