Fairly new to crossfit, LOVE IT...

Anyway, I used to do an exercise with some buddies of mine that was an OHS but we'd jump as we came up. We didn't use a barbell though, we'd just grab a plate, hold it above our heads and squat jump. Is that move safe, I haven't seen that variation on crossfit and was wondering if it's not good for you, I've never experienced pains/problems that I would directly correlate to the exercise, but...sometimes those things are gradual.

that which does not kill you, makes you stronger!!!! all kidding aside....is that plate over your head...supported by your body or by your shoulders...if that bar is out front at all, it will put lots of stress on your shoulders....if it is supported overhead by your body...the bar is back and located over the head and behind the ears...you have great shoulder flexibility and the move is safe.

hope this helps. coach burgener

Thanks Coach B. You sort of have to cheat the plate back or you tend to gain forward momentum through the jump, I can neither confirm or deny I've seen people stumble on their landing.
