shoes for a beginner?

I've been doing crossfit for 3 months. I've been wearing ASICS (a tri shoe). My coach mentioned that getting some lower profile shoes (less cusion) might help with my knee and DU attempts.

So if you've never worn low profile shoes before where would you start? I am thinking I'd prefer a step down vs a totally natural shoe to start with so I can get used to it. I am a women's size 10 with average arch and width (NOT narrow foot).

Re: shoes for a beginner?

Take a look at Reebok Nano 2.0's. They have a wide toe box and a 3mm rise (heel is 3mm higher than the ball of the foot). Take a look at Altra, too. I have never worn them but they have zero rise and a wide toe box, too.

Re: shoes for a beginner?

I just went down this road and ended up with the Merrell Barefoot Glove. I tried the New Balance MT20 and MX20 and didn't like the fit. Couldn't find any of the Nano's around here to try on. Went to a hiking store and tried the Merrell's and they felt great. Ordered them from Cabellas for $49.99. I don't go to a box, garage gym and beach for me. Done a couple running WODS in them and so far so good...just my .02.

BTW there are a bunch of threads on here about shoes, do a Title Search.
