do different types of L - sits work dif parts of the body? For instance, ring L - sits vs. those done on the ground on your fingertips vs. those on parrellettes?

I ask because my ground L - sit is sad, I have YET to break 15 seconds as my forearms wear out very quickly.

any thoughts?

As you pointed out, a lot of the difference is in the stimulus to the arms/forearms. Ground L-sits are also harder because you have to be super-strict to stay above the immovable plane below your legs, whereas on rings or parallettes you can fudge this a bit. Ring L-sits differ in that they force you to use many more stabilizer muscles in your shoulders to overcome the frictionless plane. That being the case, I would assume the motion inherent in the adjustments would perhaps increase the stimulus to the core also, as any movement in the extremities will be transferred through the area.

They all work the same parts of the body, but the demands vary. As Jesse said, on the ground it is tougher because you have a fixed plane to keep your rear and feet off of. You really have to press your shoulders down to make it work.
