Recovery

Hi,

I am training for the upcoming sectionals and I am going to ramp up the volume of my training a bit to shore up some weaknesses in particular skills. I am planning to pay particular attention to not wearing myself down or over training. Any suggestions for better/faster recovery besides sleeping and eating enough such as supplements, additional stretching, or anything else?

Thanks!

Re: Recovery

I just started taking Modern BCAA's from USPLabs. I've never been so pain free the day after a big workout.

Re: Recovery

Ted--what does Active Recovery mean for you?
In the summer I often do walking in the pool.
Year round I do some sled dragging and kettlebell swings.

What results have you seen since switching to it? Do you use any additional protein supplement? And, what were you using before hand?

Thanks!

Re: Recovery

results seen since switching to progenex
#1 for sure is my soreness was cut pretty much in half, if not mostly eliminated. now i already eat mostly Paleo Zone and take 5g EPA/DHA a day, so my soreness was already not too bad, but this almost eliminated it.
#2 i dont feel as "burnt" the next day. Burnt= just plain tired, on top of the soreness
#3 requires explanation
i switched back off of it cuz i didnt have the $ to buy another bag after i ran out. the first one was given to me by my boss for doing Grace in 2:49.
anyways after i switched back off i was more sore again, didnt feel like pushing as hard on days 2-3 of my cycles.
Then christmas came around and i got $ so i bought another bag.
i noticed that my particular brand of twisted strength bias was not producing as effective results as it had when i had been on it. the PRs i was making were not still there just not as big as when i was on Progenex.
i chalk this up to not recovering from the efforts very well. now im back on it, and the PRs jumped back up to where they were before

what i did before: Chocolate Milk.
I still do chocolate milk, i just mix Progenex into it. stuff is DELICIOUS

no extra protein supplements. just 22 blocks a day

ice baths are good too, for whoever mentioned them. as are contrast baths
