Re: 50 Burpees in 2:29

Frank -

I looked back over the southwest regional qualifier WOD's and they did a WOD 50 Chest to bar pullups and then 50 burpees for time. No breaking up the movements. The top 5 guys were all under ~5:00. Fastest coming in at 3:13. I would think a sub 2 minute goal would be great for Chris in a 50 burpee only challenge. Should be moving about 1rep every 2 seconds.

Keep pushing him.

Re: 50 Burpees in 2:29

Nice work!

I did 50 burpees in 2:40 once, and it was awful. Shortest WOD I've ever completed. first 25 weren't bad, last half was hell. Gave me "fran lung" for a couple of days.

To chris's credit, he's probably bigger and taller than me, putting him at a disadvantage, and he lifted his arms each rep, which I did not, and still came out 10 seconds faster. But then, i'm no firebreather.

he needs to work on his jump. they start out pretty good, but at the end are only like 2-3 inches. At the games, they're likley to require a 12" target.

a lot of people get a sub 5 minute time for 100burpees, you should push him to go a bit faster

Re: 50 Burpees in 2:29

We've never tried 50 burpees for time, we've done 30 and 100. Most people were around 1:00 +/- 5 seconds on the 30 burpees. Not sure how much the pace would drop off over the next 20 tho...

Those weren't the standards for the 2008 Games.
