lower back surgery and shoulder issues

Do to my previous years of swimming competitively a year and a half ago I had back surgery...I am just now noticing that my lower back has a low aching pain when I try to go past 90 degrees...then it just stops, like I can't go any further. How low should we go on our squats I get past 90 degrees but I can never get my butt to my heels or a few inches away from my heels...is the form still good?
I also have horrible shoulder problems and when I dip my right shoulder is on fire, then after I have stabbing pains in the joint/muscle area...should I lay off the dips for a week and see if it heals? haha I feel like I'm fallin' apart.

Re: lower back surgery and shoulder issues

As an owner of a reconstructed shoulder (thanks to an embarrasing trip and fall warming up for a flag football game), be easy on it.

I would lay off the dips completely or switch to bench dips with your feet on the floor or on the bench.

I also had to eliminate some of the plank positional transitions in my yoga to avoid agitating either of my shoulders.

Chronic inflamation of your shoulder ligaments is not likely to go away in the short run, the best you can do is not push it to needing surgery.

I usually ice both my shoulders after crossfitting, 15 on 15 off for 45 to an hour. Aleve is my friend as well.

Thanks Benjamin. yeah Aleve has been my friend for a while now. I am completely taking the day off. I need to let my body recover...I have overworked myself.
