The other day Steve Cotter (who's not really human) did 1000 1 arm swings with the 40kg (88lb) KB in about 40 minutes. Steve's done a demo at CFHQ I believe.
Of course this is not possible, so this weekend I did 600 1 arm swings with the 32kg KB in about 33 minutes. In both cases the swings were chest high. I did mostly sets of 20/20. Yes the wrokouts were somewhat longer then CF norm and the swings were not "full range", but as I believe Coach would say. Do the workout, then we can discuss it. Bill |

I will be doing Steve's 1000 rep workout with the 52 and striving to come close to his rep scheme and times. It will probably be after the ICS meet on the 20th....I'll post the results along with the agony. It looks like a killer challenge. |

that seems insane to me. I have never messed with kettlebells (yet) but I'm pretty sure I couldn't even hold a 88 lb dumbbell in my hand for 40 minutes not counting swinging it up and down. jeez you guys are truly awe inspiring.

I'm with you, Allen.
I "met" a 40kg KB at a kettlebell workshop earlier this year. I said hello, picked it up and put it straight back down again. I wasn't game to actually try to do anything useful with it. |

I;ll be meeting the Beast (48kg KB) this weekend at Pavel and Maxwell's Naked Warrior Seminar. I'm thinking a pullup and a snatch might be in order.

I keep getting the Flipper theme song stuck in my head whenever I think about guys like you and Steve (both Maxwell and Cotter)... "They call him mu-tant, mu-tant, faster than light-ning..." Strong work. |

does he do 1000 with one arm and then 1000 with the other or does he alternate arms or does he just do the one arm and then stop at 1000?

I remember when 1000 snatches with a 36-pounder was the challenge. 25 swings per minute with an 88 pound KB?!!!
