Vibram Five Finger question

Anyone who has Five Fingers:

What is better sprint or classic? (I plan on running and training in them)
How does the sizing compare to brand name shoes? Also, if you bought them online, how was the fit using Vibram's on-line sizing guide?
Are they worth it?

Thanks!

Re: Vibram Five Finger question

I bought them using the sizing chart and ended up getting one size too small. Let me tell you though, vibram customer service is AWESOME. I called to ask if I could send them back for a bigger says and they said they'd send them ASAP can if I could just send mine back when it was convenient. So I got my new size in the next couple of days before I ever even returned the first pair. THAT is service.

I have the ones with the velcro strap over the arch. (sprint?) I liked them better than the classics - they seemed more snug. Plus they stay on well if you walk through the water.

I didn't use the online guide, but went to a local seller of them. The correct size felt weird since they touch the end of the toes. My normal shoes always have a little 'wiggle' room. That closeness took a little getting used to.

Matt

Did you size them off the website? In your experience, should I size and round up or go for the next size up? Also, did you get the classic or sprint. Thanks alot.

I sized mine off the website, well my wife did for a Christmas present, and they were about an inch too long. I'd recommend sizing them in person if you can.

Re: Vibram Five Finger question

LOVE MY SPRINTS (Sprints are supposed to be the more versatile model). Basically wish I had the guts to walk around the city in them because they're just that wonderful...but I don't want to ruin them that quickly... Pretty much do just about anything else in them tho: lifting, water, sprinting, climbing...even played tennis in them just for kicks.

Size wise, I'm a 7 1/2 typically, but needed a 7. Still, I'd get sized at a store and then buy online if I were you.

Re: Vibram Five Finger question

I'd size them in person. Point is if you get it wrong, they're really good about fixing it for you.

I got the classics because they didn't have the sprints back then, but I would go for the sprints if I were you. The classics are kind of uncomfortable around the toe area because you have to sinch the elastic down for them to feel snug. The extra attachment around the top of the foot would do a lot to make them feel like they're going to stay on without having to tighten the elastic so much. Go for the sprints.

Re: Vibram Five Finger question

I have the classics, I sized them using the guide at Kayak Shed Vibram Five Fingers, and I have had no problems.

If I had to buy them again, I would buy the Sprints, but I am still very happy with the Classics.

I wrote a review of them here:

Re: Vibram Five Finger question

Absolutely love my VFF

I took the sprint in order to be able to do ANYTHING with them, and by ANYTHING I really mean it.

I love them so much, I'm about to buy a second pair, classic this time, for some more relax time, like hiking in the mountain or walking the dog.

If you can go try them at a shop I would really advise you to do so, the fitting in those shoes is incredibly important.

I think by now you understood that I find them more than worth it
