Curious to hear what peoples favorite zone/paleo "non fruit" fast/portable carb sources are?

Probably not what your looking for, but I try to make oatmeal for 3 days in advance. I use it for breakfast and lunch at work sometimes.

I also use a lot of canned black/garbonzo/green beans for packing lunches for work.

Mine would have to be a big salad with steamed aspargus, fried red onions, fresh jersey tomatoes, flavored shrimp, crabmeat, bacon and the list goes on..of course topped with my homemade salad dressing of (olive oil, advocao oil, apple cider vinegar, and flax seed oil).

Of course the only downside is the prep time. Besides that throw it all in a big plastic container and you got yourself one delicious, nutritious and portable meal.

Quinoa. Not technically a grain, it's a type of spinach seed. Low GI (35), and GL (8), very easy to cook, and tastes great with everything.

On the go: Any kind of Larabar, they are all good (though made w/ fruit and nuts).

That's kind of a difficult question when you say "non-fruit." I try to eat Paleo. I don't like raw vegetables, so finding portable options outside of fruit has been a little difficult for me. My fast and portable option is a bag of beef jerky and an apple or pear in my purse everyday.

When I am being lazy in the kitchen, I pull out the "steam in a bag" frozen broccolis and make those for dinner. I've also brought the green bean ones to work, because if I let the bag cool a bit, I can walk around with it and eat them with my fingers if I am busy (be careful, they drip).

Sweet potatoes or yams for a lot of carbs, but mainly just veggies.
