Interesting that in their most recent video, "Up close with Whitney Welsch" she says she got into "functional fitness training" and tells the backstory of how she joined a "functional fitness gym." That's the closest I've seen anyone come to saying Crossfit in their recent videos

As many pro leagues do, I would bet there was a bit of coaching that went on with that interview in order to get athletes to say such a thing.

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

With the talk of Rich Froning not competing individual after this year, what are the odds he gets lured into the NPFL? They already have commitments from many of the top athletes with Annie and Sam signing up, what are the odds we see some other big name athletes like Rich, Jason?

Have any of the teams disclosed how much they are paying their athletes yet?

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

I wonder since this isn't affiliated with CF, will we see Rob McDonald and some GJ guys competing in the "sport of fitness". Anybody that can get 400+ calories in 10 min on the Airdyne and 355# OHS, should kill in this.

edit: With the different strategies, it will be nice to finally see some "big" guys competing.

I would bet it's still too close to CF by way of Tony Budding for the GJ guys to come in but hot diggity would I love that. Maximus is an animal just as you posted. Because 300 cals on an airdyne isn't hard enough right?

Re: Have we all seen this yet?

I think it's interesting that James Fitzgerald owns one of the NPFL teams. (2007 CrossFit Games champ, OPT trainer) He distanced himself from CrossFit for a while, but is competing again now in the Open.

Glassman has invited athletes from other sports disciplines to come compete at the Games. I think the NPFL may serve as a more neutral competition venue between CrossFitters, OPT, Gym Jones, other unaffiliated HIIT organizations, whoever. That is awesomeness!
